Olivia Morrison ‘24, Co-Editor in Chief

Olivia Morrison is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her second year as a writer for CatlinSpeak, and her first year as the Co-Editor in Chief. She first became interested in journalism by reading the Oregonian and the New York Times. Outside of school, Olivia loves to spend time outdoors in the beautiful nature of Oregon and thrift with friends. Listening to music is also one of her favorite pastimes. Some of her favorite artists include the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Paul Simon. At Catlin, she leads the Bring Change to Mind club for mental health advocacy and is a member of the varsity basketball and tennis teams. She is interested in writing pieces about student interests and topics that are relevant to the entire Catlin community.

Elise Kim ‘25, Co-Editor in Chief

Elise Kim

is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her second year as a writer and Co-Editor in Chief for CatlinSpeak. Having been raised in Oregon with an active family, she loves outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. She always enjoys playing organized sports such as soccer, basketball, and tennis. She also appreciates a night at home curled up with a fiction novel, playing card games with her two younger sisters, writing her own short stories/poetry, or baking. Elise is also the co-leader of the REquip Soccer Club and the Multi-Culti Club. She is interested in covering sports as well as sharing stories about Catlin community members. As Co-Editor in Chief, Elise hopes to increase CatlinSpeak’s visibility and importance in the Catlin community by writing stories that feel relevant to students and faculty.

Maddie Synder ‘26, Co-Editor in Chief

Maddie Snyder is a junior at Catlin Gabel. This is her second year writing for the newspaper and first year as Co-Editor in Chief. Outside of school, she likes to play basketball, read, and write her own short stories. Maddie lives with her family and dog, with a sister also off at college. In the Catlin community, she is also a co-leader of Bring Change To Mind, a mental health awareness club, and is the Editor of  Pegasus, Catlin’s Literary Magazine. She is excited this year in her new role to write engaging articles for the Catlin community and to increase excitement around CatlinSpeak.

Ann Crosby ‘25, Content Design Editor

Ann Crosby is currently a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her first year writing for CatlinSpeak, and she holds the Content Design Editor (publisher) position. Ann has been a Catlin student since her freshman year. She participates in varsity cross country and is a co-captain of the varsity girls' tennis team. Additionally, she co-leads the crochet club and the Oregon Students Foundation. Ann has enjoyed pursuing independent research topics and writing on a diverse range of topics, which she hopes to continue at CatlinSpeak. Lastly, as content design editor Ann is excited to manage the CatlinSpeak website, ensuring that all published material is well-organized and easy for readers to access.

Britney Haldorsen ‘25, Co-Director of Marketing

Britney Haldorsen is currently a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her second year writing for CatlinSpeak. She became interested in journalism during the Covid-19 pandemic when she had much time on her hands and began to write all the time. She realized she quite enjoyed it and wanted a role in which she could explore her interests. Brittney leads 3 different clubs: Breaking the Barrier, a club that she co-founded with her sister to help the houseless community in Portland, Bring Change to Mind, and Black Student Union. Outside of school, she enjoys playing basketball and tennis. On the weekends Brittney finds herself hanging out with friends and going thrifting. At home, she lives with her mom and her sister, who now lives in New York City. In the future Brittney hopes to bring the knowledge of CatlinSpeak to college in hopes of majoring in journalism.

Andy Han ‘26, Co-Director of Marketing

Andy Han is a current junior at Catlin Gabel. This is his first year both as a staff writer and as a member of the marketing team at CatlinSpeak. As the co-founder and co-leader of the Philosophy Club and Film Enthusiasts Club, Andy spends most of his free time watching films and reading philosophical novels. His favorites include Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Nietzsche, along with The Myth of Sisyphus and The Stranger, both by Camus. He also spends a lot of time listening to music, his favorite artists at the moment being Future, Daft Punk, Tool, Death Grips, and Travis Scott. Informed by his hobbies, Andy is interested in covering a wide range of topics, ranging from philosophical, and scientific, to creative topics. Through CatlinSpeak, Andy hopes to explore unique, previously unexamined topics and bring them to light within the Catlin community.

Evan Zhang ‘27

Evan Zhang is a current junior at Catlin Gabel and a new student this year. He is looking forward to being a part of CatlinSpeak’s writing staff and marketing team. He also hopes to connect with the school community better through his writing and at events for the newspaper. His love for writing bloomed in the second grade, through a series of handwritten superhero stories, and his journalistic thirst has not ceased since. Having lived abroad in Singapore and South Korea for four years, he is passionate about what is happening around the world. His topics of interest include nature, international affairs, and goings-on around CGS.

Charlie Broad ‘25

Charlie Broad is a senior in his tenth year at the Catlin Gabel School. This is his first year as a writer for CatlinSpeak. Charlie’s interests in journalism are current politics and all sports-encompassing topics. He likes to spend his free time with friends and loved ones. Charlie both plays and follows a variety of sports, including basketball. His favorite subjects in school are math and history.Through writing for CatlinSpeak, Charlie hopes to expand his interests and inform the Catlin community.

Theo Butler ‘27

Theo Butler is a current Senior at Catlin Gabel and has been here since preschool. This is his first year writing for CatlinSpeak. He is excited to have a chance to write about interests he wouldn’t normally write about in a social studies class, such as sports, food, and scientific developments. Outside of CatlinSpeak, he does sports throughout the school year; playing soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and running track and field in the spring. He also is a member of the school’s Quizbowl, rocketry, and Science Olympiad teams. Theo hopes to bring a fun perspective on his many interests to CatlinSpeak.

Erin Chow ‘25

Erin Chow is a current senior at Catlin Gabel and has been attending Catlin since preschool. This is her second year writing for CatlinSpeak. After her first year at CatlinSpeak, Erin decided to continue her passion for journalism. She became interested in the class after starting to read more news articles during the pandemic which inspired her to learn about journalism further. Within Catlin, Erin plays on the Varsity volleyball team and participates in a variety of clubs such as The Blood Drive Club and Gift of Care. In her free time, Erin enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to music, traveling, and baking. This year, Erin is excited to explore a variety of journalism topics and continue to strengthen her writing skills. She is excited to see what her second year at CatlinSpeak holds for her.

Isaiah Dada ‘25

Isaiah Dada is a senior at Catlin Gabel, and this is his first year with CatlinSpeak. He became interested in CatlinSpeak last year after reading a good deal of their articles and having an inordinate interest in New York Times columnist's works like John McWhorter and Kwame Anthony Appiah. Isaiah loves reading good books, listening to music, birdwatching, and athletics. He is also one of the co-leaders for TRIBE and the sole leader of DnD club. He hopes to write informative, entertaining, and accurate articles for the readers of CatlinSpeak and learn the skills to do so effectively.

Violet Daly ‘24

Violet Daly is a junior at Catlin Gabel. This is her third year attending Catlin, and her first year writing for CatlinSpeak. In addition to journalism, Violet enjoys singing, playing guitar, and playing volleyball. The reason she decided to become a writer for CatlinSpeak was to learn more about how to effectively encapsulate an engaging and active story, in addition to participating in professional published writing as a whole. Violet is excited to gain more experience with journalistic writing and hopes that she can bring a new perspective to CatlinSpeak.

Jordan Devlin ‘25

Jordan Devlin is a senior at Catlin Gabel, and this is her first year writing for CatlinSpeak. Outside of classes, she competes in gymnastics year-round and performs in musicals. Additionally, Jordan loves to hang out with friends, read novels, write songs on her guitar, and listen to music. She first became interested in CatlinSpeak after reading some articles that were especially relevant to the Catlin community and wanted to explore a possible interest in journalism. This year, she hopes to build skills in writing engaging articles and interviewing, while also learning about the ins and outs of how journalists go about writing articles.

Stella Dombrow ‘25

Stella Dombrow is a senior at Catlin Gabel, and this is her sixth year attending Catlin. This is her first year writing for CatlinSpeak. She has been interested in the Dialogue for Democracy class since freshman year but was never able to take it. This year at CatlinSpeak she hopes to learn more about journalism and write engaging stories for the Catlin community. At school, Stella participates in a variety of clubs and is captain of the cross-country team. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and traveling.
