Maddie Synder ‘26, Co-Editor in Chief

Maddie Snyder is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her third year writing for the newspaper and second as Co-Editor in Chief. Outside of school she plays basketball, reads whenever she can, and writes a monthly column for Willamette Week. In the Catlin community, she is also a co-leader of Bring Change To Mind, a mental health awareness club, Jewish Student Union and is the Editor of Pegasus, Catlin’s Literary Magazine. She is excited in her last year to write engaging and thought-provoking articles for Catlin students. Her interest in journalism sparked after her freshman year on CatlinSpeak, and now hopes to keep pursuing Journalism in college, while also studying International Relations and Political Science.

Evan Zhang ‘26, Co-Editor in Chief

Evan Zhang is a senior at Catlin Gabel and in his second year writing for CatlinSpeak. He is excited to begin his first year as Co-Editor-in-Chief, and to help the newspaper reach new heights. His love for writing bloomed in the second grade, through a series of handwritten superhero stories, and his interest in journalism has not waned since. Having lived abroad in Singapore and South Korea for four years, he is passionate about what is happening around the world. His articles focus on movies and TV, international affairs, and the goings-on around CGS.

Andy Han ‘26, Content Design Editor

Andy Han is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is his second year as a staff writer and his first year as the Content Design Editor. As the co-founder and co-leader of the Philosophy Club and Film Club, Andy spends most of his free time watching movies, reading, and listening to music. Informed by his hobbies, Andy is interested in covering a wide range of topics, ranging from philosophical and scientific to political topics. Through CatlinSpeak, Andy hopes to explore unique, previously unexamined topics and bring them to light within the Catlin community.

Luna Flores ‘26, Co-Director of Marketing

Luna Flores is a current senior at Catlin Gabel, and a first year member of CatlinSpeak. Within the community, Luna is an enthusiastic leader of the EAT club, Mock Trial Club, and Latine Affinity. As Vice President of the CGSA this year, thus far, she’s enjoyed planning school events and connecting with her peers. One of her favorite places on campus is the Cabell theater, where she can often be found rehearsing for a theater production after school. She’s excited to write articles covering a myriad of topics, and can’t wait to increase CatlinSpeak’s visibility through her role as Co-Director of the Marketing Team.

Eliana Yoken ‘26, Co-Director of Marketing

Eliana Yoken is a current senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her first year both as a staff writer and as a member of the Marketing Team at CatlinSpeak. She is leader of the Jewish Student Union and a member of the varsity girls volleyball and tennis teams. Outside of school she spends a lot of time volunteering with her local Jewish community. In her free time, she likes to ski, bake, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family. She is excited to write articles about topics that deeply resonate with her and bring awareness to ideas and topics that are new to the CG community.

Lucia Alvarez ‘26

Lucia Alvarez is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her first year writing for CatlinSpeak. She is an avid skier, reader, and loves spending time with her friends and family. She is passionate about film and social justice, leading the Safe and AQE affinity groups as well as co-leading outreach for the outdoor education department. She is interested in writing about social issues, how they affect the Catlin Gable community, as well as learning more about podcast-based journalism.

Ariana Bajaj ‘26

Ariana Bajaj is a senior at the Catlin Gabel Upper School, and this is her first year writing for CatlinSpeak. Ariana hopes to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering and enjoys the challenge of her Honors math and science classes. She was born in Canada and has lived in India, China, and Texas, valuing her global heritage as a key component of her diverse experiences. At Catlin, Ariana is the co-leader of the Desi Affinity and AWSEM clubs and is the Captain of the Catlin Gabel Varsity Swim Team. During her time at CatlinSpeak, she hopes to publish meaningful articles that shed light on many of her passions and interests. In Ariana’s free time, she loves shopping with her sister and is an avid reality TV watcher!

Krish Caulfield ‘26

Krish Caulfield is a current senior at Catlin Gabel, and this is his first year writing for CatlinSpeak. In the Catlin community, he can be found co-leading Desi Affinity and serving as the Managing Editor for Pegasus. Krish can also be found capturing Media Day photos for Catlin’s illustrious sports teams. Outside of school, he spends too much time watching the Trail Blazers, film, and TV. He also loves spending time with his family and dog, Fenny. Through CatlinSpeak, Krish hopes to explore topics of interest, including Catlin history, sports, art, and profiles on members of the community that has impacted him so much.

Hadley Cress ‘27

Hadley Cress is a junior at Catlin Gabel. This is her third year writing for CatlinSpeak. Hadley loves playing volleyball and being social with her friends, especially outdoors. She also likes reading and listening to music to relax and enjoy downtime. Hadley became interested in journalism after talking with her neighbor, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist. His work inspired her to explore journalism. Hadley wants to write to inform others about what is happening at her school and help initiate change.

Prisha Garg ‘26

Prisha Garg is a senior at Catlin Gabel. She has been at Catlin for five years, and this is her first year joining CatlinSpeak! Prisha is passionate about studying business and entrepreneurship in college and hopes to have a bustling career in that field or start her own company. In her free time, Prisha loves to read and attempts to bake. She is especially passionate about the fall and winter seasons and enjoys engaging in fall/holiday festivities. Prisha is very excited to join CatlinSpeak this year and share her passions with the community!

Nico Igarashi ‘26

Nico Igarashi is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is his third year at Catlin, and his first year at CatlinSpeak. He leads several clubs, including the Film Club, Positive Masculinity Club, and Hope–the ladder, a nonprofit which aids elders in housework and landscaping where they cannot. In his time outside of school, he works at the highly acclaimed Hapa pizza, is an avid record collector, vintage connoisseur, and film buff. In addition, he enjoys the outdoors, either through hiking, snowboarding, or crabbing.  As a CatlinSpeak writer, he has interests in narrative and feature style articles, as well as sharing untold perspectives and learning more about the Catlin community!

Priya Klein ‘26

Priya Klein is a senior at Catlin Gabel. She has attended Catlin for six years and this is her second year writing for CatlinSpeak. Priya became interested in journalism after hearing Helena Gougeon, the teacher of the course, discuss Honors Dialogue for Democracy in her sophomore year. She hopes that taking the course will allow her to become a more well-rounded and professional writer. Priya is very interested in the STEM field, hoping to study English and biology. Outside of class, Priya enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and reading. She’s excited to see what the field of journalism has to offer!

Meret Pajkic ‘26

Meret Pajkic is a senior at Catlin Gabel. This is her 4th year at Catlin and her first year writing for Catlin Speak. Meret’s interest in journalism stems from her mother, who worked for her school's newspaper in high school and college. Meret is excited to pursue topics that interest her and learn more about journalism as a profession. In college, she hopes to study International Relations or Public Policy. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She is excited to see how her writing will improve this upcoming year!

August Walrod ‘26

August Walrod is a senior who has been at Catlin since freshman year. Interested in urban planning and public policy, August hopes to focus on policy issues in the Catlin community. He captains the varsity soccer team and co-leads the Political Spectrum Club. August has a love for travel, running, language, history, and writing. He believes in writing articles that confront divisive matters within the Catlin community and also in the importance of building fun and creative narratives.
