2022 Wrap-Up Puzzle Section

There is a common misconception that doing word games or puzzles can prevent memory loss or long-term brain issues, although sadly this is not fully scientifically proven. What is proven is that anything that involves the active engagement of your brain and “exercising” your brain can help in the future and at the very least is a creative outlet.
Additionally, puzzles like crosswords help with fluency and recalling words which is definitely a good skill to practice and have a strong command of.
Actively engaging your brain in a creative recognition-based game of a screen every day can benefit an individual. It can help people have a fun activity by themselves or with their friends.
There is a wide variety of puzzles for people to challenge their brains with, including and not limited to jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, connect the dots, word search, and Wordle. In November 2021, Wordle, a daily five-letter word guessing game, went viral. People would post their daily wordles and share them online.
Wordle took the world by storm, which led to parody puzzles being made like worldle and nerdle. This large variety of wordle-type puzzles meant that there was a puzzle for everyone and their interests.
Many C&Cs do these short-style puzzles as an activity together. The most popular puzzles C&Cs have done are crosswords and wordle. This not only acts as something for the whole group to work on together, but also is an entertaining way to spend time together.
