The day has finally come for the senior class of 2022 to say goodbye to Catlin Gabel (CGS). Some of us have attended CGS since preschool, and others joined this very year. Regardless of when the Catlin journey started for each of us, the friends we have made here have become family.

Join the seniors as they reflect on their memories and experiences from CGS.

Opal Creek Discovery Days (8th grade), from Seth Knights.

Samira Grossmann-Ferris: When a bouncy slide was brought to campus. People got so excited that it was dramatically tipped over, and it provided some comic relief to a stressful week.

Sedona Snyder: Takeaway day freshman year.

Mia Rumsfeld: My favorite moment from Catlin is our class trip Freshman year. It was a great way to introduce a new range of people, and I bonded with my cabin group. Also, I remember we played a glow stick game. My cabin group won, and Coligny and I ran full speed into each other because it was dark and we couldn’t see.

Our classmates making funny faces on the beach, (2nd grade), from Enrique Escalona

Nate Harris: I’m going to miss Marion. I remember in seventh grade, I blew on Mark Pritchard’s neck, and he yelled, “who did that?!”

Bianca Haldorsen: I think my favorite memory at Catlin so far has been science class with Marion freshman year because we had one big table where all we would do for the majority of class was draw on the whiteboards or ask Marion about New Zealand and I felt like that was the class where I made the most friends.

Our young classmates are dabbing at Hyla Woods (7th grade), from Seth Knights.

Caleb Cress: Ethan dipping his pants in the toilet in middle school.

Aidan Bernard: Yeah, definitely Ethan dipping his pants into the toilet in middle school.

Oci White: Going to state for volleyball for the first time.

Chris Whalen: Doing “Newsies” with all my friends.

Students playing zombie tag at Westwind (5th grade).

Joshua Hamlett: That Friday before we left for COVID, I walked into the CAC, and all the seniors were singing Let it Go and songs from Moana. It was really funny because none of us realized it would be our last day of school. It was Friday the 13th, and it was snowing--in March.

Fiona Rayne: It was probably the last week of school. Dale made us play the Ceramics Wheel of Fortune, and at lunch, everyone was enjoying the sun together. We played basketball, spike ball, and played in a bouncy house. That bouncy house tipped over.

Erin Dougherty: One of my favorite moments from Catlin was a part of the Winterim I was in Freshman year. We ended the week by going to an escape room and working together to escape without saying a single word (and we did!). I remember feeling proud because none of us knew each other very well at the start of the week, but we could still work well together.

Students at the Camp Namanu talent show (8th grade), from Seth Knights.

Marissa Spires: One of my favorite memories from Catlin has been playing volleyball and showing up to practice. First off, I think it’s a really fun sport to play, but an aspect that made it all the more enjoyable was the people you got to play with. Even if there were students I never knew before the season, being on a team allowed me to build those connections, challenge one another, and ultimately have a great time. Also, I love the coaches so much, and they really knew how to empower each of us.

Our classmates gathered around the campfire at West Wind (5th Grade).

Anya Sathyajit: My favorite memories from Catlin were hanging out in the gym or the track during free blocks with friends. It was a great way to keep the energy during the school day, and it was fun to run a mile or shoot baskets with different people depending on who was free. It was refreshing to be outside during the day and explore campus, especially when the weather was nice.

Alexis Smart: That spring festival in 10th grade. I made snow cones.

Mia and Sophia playing in the sand at Camp Westwind (5th grade).

Jiana Scipone: Patrick’s history elective, Honors Globalization. We covered so many things in class that felt truly meaningful, and I know that they’ll stick with me for a long time. I’m grateful to Patrick for catering the class to our needs and individual curiosities while simultaneously providing a safe space and welcoming learning environment.

Greta Bogdanski: Maybe the art classroom.

Noga and Jake stanced up on the beach at Camp Westwind.

Jackson George: My favorite memory is winning the 4x100 relay and the overall boys title at the track and field state championships last year.

Seth Knights: Honestly [winterim 2019] is probably one of my favorite memories, when Nate, Jeffrey, and I somehow convinced the school that we should be allowed to do our self-managed winterim where we just walk around and take photos

Our classmates eating lunch on the CGS library steps (12th grade), from Hazel Walrod.

Emma Song: It was the end of freshman year in May. Kira and I had just finished our last computer science project. It was challenging but very rewarding to finish. We had a week left of pure free time. It was really sunny and warm outside, and we just laid on the grass and relaxed.

Mrinalini Keskar: I loved all the class trips, but the sophomore year class trip was probably my favorite because it was super chill and we were basically allowed to have a bunch of free time with each other. I remember when we were all together one time, we made this huge pyramid, like we were all on top of each other, and then we all fell down at the end of it. It was really funny.

Hazel Walrod: On October 12, 2021, we went to QFC and bought an entire carrot cake for $5. My friends and I ate it. Also, when we went to the pumpkin patch, I bought a bunch of little gourds--all sorts of different sizes and shapes.

Liam Dwyer: My favorite memories were doing CatlinSpeak at PLACE. I think that it just felt like a really good environment.

Ava Yu: The eighth grade class trip was pretty fun.

Thank you to all of the seniors who shared their favorite memories. We will miss you next year and good luck to everyone on their college journey!
